Mediterranean restaurants are a dime a dozen in the Greater Toronto Area and neighbouring regions, but Agabi Grill House in Oakville, a town just west of Mississauga offers a mix of Egyptian, Lebanese, and Greek food. Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll notice the contrast between the dark and light wood furnishings and how it adds more character to the dining experience.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to dine in, so I just ordered take-out. First dish was the Lamb Sashlik pita sandwich for $8.95. The grilled lamb was very tender and was mixed with sautéed onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. Add the garlic sauce and hot sauce and it will add another layer of flavour to an already fantastic dish.
Second dish was the Calf Liver pita sandwich for $7.95, which was prepared very well with a mixture of herbs and spices. The flavours were well balanced and not greasy. Fans of liver based dishes will love this sandwich, and those who are not so keen will likely change their minds after tasting this dish. Adding garlic sauce and hot sauce takes this sandwich up a notch.
Definitely a restaurant that deserves a second visit and many more. There are other dishes that warrant a taste, but word of warning, the smell of food will adhere to your clothes. Happy Eating!
